Fans enjoy day at the Ballpark in Arlington
in support of LSS ministries in North Texas

July 13, 2008

Arlington, Texas - More than 200 LSS supporters turned out for the first annual LSS Day at the Rangers July 13. The Rangers donated $5 from each advance ticket sold for that day's game to the Nelson Children's Center in Denton, Texas, and the LSS Adoption/Foster Care Program in North Texas.

Nelson Center residents say "Thanks" to GE Aviation

Thanks to generous donations from General Electric Aviation and long-time Nelson Center supporter Joyce Gastler, children and staff from the Nelson Center were also able to attend the game. They stood and cheered with the rest of the crowd as the Rangers beat the White Sox by a score of 12 to 11.

Area churches that took part in promoting the sale of tickets included Bethel Lutheran Church , Garland; Eagle Point Community Church, Denton; Redeemer Lutheran Church, Forth Worth; and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Roanoke. GE Aviation also promoted the sale of tickets to the game.

Lutheran Social Services' ministries were promoted in an announcement and graphics on the Jumbotron screen in the fourth inning.

"The kids are already asking about when they can go again," said Cheryl Rayl, Chief Operating Officer of the Nelson Center. "We are already looking forward to LSS Day at the Ballpark next year!"
