Nelson
Center boys enjoy a "salon-style" haircuts
June 11, 2007
DENTON,
Texas - There is nothing like a great hair cut
to help make one feel better about himself, and
that's just what happened recently for the boys
at the Nelson Children's Center.
Leila
Patton and Lori Snider of the Double L Salon in
Krum, Texas, gave each of the boys a haircut in
the style they got to choose. They donated their
time and supplies.
"They
(the boys) are the best-behaved kids we have every
met," said Patton. "It was 'Yes, ma'am'
and 'No, ma'am,' " she said.

Patton
said she decided to provide the haircuts after a
tour of the center about a month ago. She and others
from the Double L Salon plan to give the boys a
haircut every five weeks.
She said
that chairs designed to be used for hair salons
and barbershops, are soon to be donated by Sally's
Beauty Supply, also of Krum.
"Leila
and Lori did wonders for the kids' self esteem,"
said Kristy McKinney, volunteer coordinator at Nelson
Center.
"Anytime
you can help somebody, it makes you feel good,"
said Patton.
