Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are critical to the care and treatment of the children of Nelson Center.

People with special talent in music, art, education, entertainment, recreation and sports can enrich the lives of the children.

These are some of the openings for volunteers now available:
    • Birthday Party Sponsors - Your group can host a birthday party for residents, providing
      cake and entertainment.
    • Mentors - Volunteer mentors are matched with a child who has no one else to visit       them. Mentors visit at least twice a month for one hour, and do a variety of fun activities       with the child.
   • Tutors - Volunteers help residents reach their target grade level in math, reading and more.
   • Chapel Services - Individuals and church groups are welcome to conduct one of our weekly       services for residents each month.

To volunteer at Nelson Center, please call (940) 484-8232 or email NelsonVolunteer@lsss.org.

Note: All volunteer applicants must undergo a criminal background check and training for the protection of the children and volunteers.
